In a quiet cul-de-sac in Newcastle-under-Lyme, within a row of compact, two-bed apartments, sits the i-Diagnostics Demonstrator.
There’s been no redevelopment work, no structural changes, yet the flat now has the means to help its resident monitor their health, control their environment easily and be more independent.
A typical housing association property, the flat has a small, private front entrance, which leads into a small hallway. The flat features a kitchen, sitting room, bathroom and two bedrooms.
Each room has elements of ‘plug and play’ assistive technology on display, demonstrating innovative products that can be implemented quickly and easily in any home.
The second bedroom has been decorated to look like a GP surgery – providing an opportunity for visitors to see how health data collected in the flat, appears on screen for the GP.

Telecare and home safety
